At the Susdrain annual awards ceremony in Edinburgh this week, we were delighted that our Director of Operations was awarded with the ‘Established Professional of the Year’ award. Jo had been nominated by her friends and colleagues at The Aquifer Partnership who considered Jo to be a long-standing source of reliable and honest advice and guidance on the water-quality aspects of SuDS design. Jo received votes from other SuDS professionals who recognised her career-long efforts to change the way that we design SuDS for polluted urban surfaces to make sure that toxic, organic pollutants are properly accounted for.
Jo’s career spans over 35 years and she was a Pollution Control Officer at the Environment Agency for many of those years. But she has also worked in Water Resource Planning, Climate Change training and SuDS design. She is straight-talking and is recognised for her problem-solving skills, and in recent years she has become increasingly concerned about good habitat creation and the long-term protection of wildlife.
