Wales Green Infrastructure Forum Presentation

The road to recovery in Wales

Jo was pleased to be invited to deliver a presentation to the Wales Green Infrastructure Forum on May 25th 2022. Jo’s presentation was entitled ‘Roads to Recovery’ and she described the problems of pollution from road surfaces that affects rivers across Wales. She then went on to describe the devices that are available to treat road runoff on new road schemes, and then she showed some examples of retro-fit schemes where Local Authorities have taken opportunities to include bioremediation zones in drainage and junction improvements.

Retro-fit SuDS in towns & cities can create attractive habitats for wildlife at the same time as reducing pollution and capturing stormwater to reduce overflows from the sewerage network. They are increasingly being included in planned improvement works and there are many examples from around the world of the benefits that they can bring.

The presentation was followed by an interesting discussion. If you would like a presentation for your team or your business, contact Jo at jo.bradley@stormwatershepherds.org.
