Every day is a school day!

In May 2022, Jo Bradley joined her friends and associates from the Douglas Valley Partnership on a site visit to Walton le Dale Wastewater Treatment works, hosted by the excellent team on site from United Utilities. Jo used to visit this site to sample the effluent when she worked at the Environment Agency and it was fascinating to return to the site to look at the sewage treatment processes and the flow control devices.

The Catchment Partnership on the River Douglas is hosted by the Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside and their local officer, Sara Clowes keeps the energy going in the partnership to deliver continuous improvements across the river catchment. All the partners take part and deliver specific projects to reduce invasive species, to remove barriers to fish, to gather data on the health of the river and to improve water quality. It is a pleasure to be a part of the group.

If you haven’t learnt about your local Catchment Partnership, have a look to see what they are up to and maybe you can help them out?
