Behind the Tesco Superstore in Leatherhead, there is a little stream that no-one really notices. It is a tributary of the River Mole and it is hidden amongst undergrowth until it pops out in the woods by Leatherhead Common.
On a sunny Saturday in April, an intrepid group of litter pickers from Stormwater Shepherds UK and Patrick Parsons got into the stream and removed 8 bags full of litter, a traffic cone and a selection of plastic toys!
The team from Patrick Parsons were led by Andy Johnson who is a Stormwater Shepherds Ambassador, and he contributes his wealth of experience in design engineering to the team, and shares the story of stormwater pollution with his colleagues and peers. He brought along some of the Patrick Parsons team to help out on the day; Harry Saffin, Ben McHugh and David & Julie Brooke – it was great to meet them all and we made a big difference to a little stream.
